Letter from the Wild Animals

Imagine if the animals could send us a message. What would that sound like with the upcoming breeding season just around the corner?

I started in a creative mood:

Pssst… It’s Breeding Season! Will you help out with a Paw?

Hey there, nature lover! 🐾

We – the birds, deer, hares, and all our wild friends – are busy with the most exciting time of the year: raising our little ones! From March 15 to July 15, forests, meadows, and wetlands turn into giant nurseries. But honestly? We could use a little help… from you!

Want to know how you can support us? Just listen to our tips!

🦉 “Shhh… We Need Peace and Quiet!”

“I’m a tawny owl, and my chicks just hatched. Super exciting! But if you come too close to my nest, I have to fly away and leave them alone… And that’s dangerous! So please, stay on the trails and keep your voice down, so I can raise my little ones safely. Deal?”

Your Mission:
Stick to the designated trails
Keep your voice low
Enjoy nature without disturbing it

🦊 “My Den is Not a Playground!”

“I’m a fox, and my cubs are little naughty ones! But if people or off-leash dogs come too close, we hide underground for hours. Not great when we’re hungry! Want to help? Keep your dog on a leash and stay away from bushes and dens. Thanks a lot!”

Your Mission:
Keep dogs on a leash
Leave young animals alone, no matter how cute they are!
Admire us from a distance (binoculars are great!)

🦆 “Trash? Yuck! It Doesn’t Belong in My Nest!”

“I’m a wild duck, and I don’t get it why people leave behind plastic bottles and chip bags. Sometimes my ducklings get tangled in them or even try to eat them… Can you help? Take your trash with you and keep nature clean. Small effort, big impact!”

Your Mission:
Take your trash with you (or pick up an extra piece)
Don’t leave food scraps, not even bread for the birds
Don’t throw dog poop bags in the bushes (that helps no one!)

🦌 “Give Me a Moment to Breathe…”

“I’m a deer, and I have to be extra careful right now. My fawn often lies hidden in tall grass, but if I get startled by a cyclist or runner suddenly leaving the trail, I might panic and lose my little one. So please, stay on the paths and help keep us safe!”

Your Mission:
Walk, bike, or ride only on designated trails
Don’t disturb resting places in nature
Give us the peace and quiet we need

Let’s Make This Spring a Success Together!

See? It’s actually pretty simple! By making a few small changes (or just not doing certain things 😉), you can help us grow up safely and happily.

So, next time you’re out in nature, remember: you’re visiting a nursery! 🤗 We love having you here, as long as you’re a respectful guest.

Thank you, and see you in the wild!
